THE BOOK AFFAIR
30-31 May 2013
Castello Library-San Lorenzo,
Castello 5065, Venice, Italy
“The Book Affair” is a two day independent publishing fair to be held in the occasion of 55th Venice Art Biennale and organized by Automatic Books publishing house and A Plus A Slovenian Exhibition Centre, with the support of the Municipality of Venice. Following the successful first edition organized in 2011, “The Book Affair” will be held at the Library of San Lorenzo in Venice, Italy on the 30th and 31st of May 2013. Free and open to the public, “The Book Affair” is a unique event featuring more than 30 selected international publishers, distributors and collectors dedicated to the production of books, printed matter, art catalogues, monographs, periodicals and zines.
Held during one of the most significant contemporary art events, Venice Biennale, “The Book Affair” is a unique occasion for discussion, exchange and promotion of ideas and projects centred around art publishing. “The Book Affair” will also include a series of special projects, conferences, exhibitions and events organized with the idea of examining the production of books in contemporary art, initiated in October 2012 in Venice with a series of conferences titled “The Seller, the Publisher and the Artist”.
The Book Affair was born with the idea of offering a platform for contemporary art publishers to display their work and projects during opening days of the Venice Art Biennale, which counts around 20.000 attendees between curators, museum staff, artists, journalists and critics.
This year’s edition of the fair is hosted by the Municipality of Venice Murano and Burano at the public library of San Lorenzo, a unique location near the main sites of the Biennale and just two steps away from San Marco, the heart of Venice.
The complete list of exhibitors and a detailed schedule of the event will soon be published at www.thebookaffair.org
