»We are ABOUT to make history« is the motto of the first ABOUT Independent Publishing Fair in Mainz. This fair for small publishing houses and self-publishers that work within the fields of art and design is taking place from Friday 4th to Sunday 6th of May 2012. It complements »Schrift/Macht/Welten.«, a notable symposium
that will address to the relationship of typography and power, and is organized by the German Society for Design History in Mainz.
Located on the spacious premises of FH Mainz – University of Applied Sciences, ABOUT offers more than 200 square meters for the presentation and sale of a great variety of publications.
With more than 25 participants ( BOLO Paper will be in the international table) from all across the country and a focus on the presentation of student’s publications from various art academies, it facilitates exchange and dialogue with like-minded people as well as the general public.
Along with the fair, we have organized the exhibition »FLAGS« which will showcase 16 flag designs by international designers.
Please join them for the opening of FLAGS on Friday, 4 May 7 pm.
All participating publishers are invited to give a short presentation about their work for the visitors of the fair. This will happen consistently at the ABOUT Readers Corner.
For Saturday evening, we organized a Pecha Kucha Night, starting at 8.20 pm.
Entrance is free of charge.
